TAHERA:

Bangalore-based Tahera Peeran, 26, opened her design studio a year ago. “My designs are for up-market, confident people, who appreciate high fashion, and aren’t afraid to experiment. Someone who is very individualistic in her personality. Definitely not for people who believe that black is the only dress code for evening wear.”

Tahera’s colour palette is vibrant. Various tones of gold frequently shine through. She plays with a range of fabrics – stretch, brocade, silk and cotton all flirt together with delightful results. Her work includes eveningwear, corporate wear and bridal gowns, and her clothes have a reputation for their excellent cut, fit and finishing.

Her brand Tahera is retailing at Mumbai’s cutting-edge designer boutique, Bombay Electric and Bangalore’s Nimboo Closet and her designs were recently featured in Vogue. .”

MARIPOSA:

Mariposa is a new label designed in Auroville near Pondicherry by a German designer, who has been living in India for many years. ART BY SUSHMITA:

Designs with individuality!

Susmitha Subbaraju is from Bangalore, India and has been making Art Beads, Miniature Sculptures and Artisan Jewelry since 2003. She loves creating with Polymer Clay, Wire - Silver and Copper, Artisan Lampwork Glass Beads, Gemstones and Crystals.

Since there are many many designs constantly running about in her head, she doesn’t ever have the inclination to make two pieces that are exactly the same. So every design she creates is an exclusive work of art.

She is a Reiki practitioner and a Tarot reader too. Whenever she uses gemstones in her designs she charges them with Reiki energy to enhance their metaphysical qualities.

She is also a proud Vegan. In the spirit of her Veganism and love for animals she creates miniature critters. Each little sculpture is designed to remind us that animals are our friends, they have thoughts, feelings and personalities of their own. We're all children of the same Mother Nature and they need love and respect just like us.

NIMBOO

Nimboo Design + Style is owned and run by Namrata, Prasanna and Kavya – three friends and ex-models who decided to a clothing label that represented their diverse, eclectic styles. The label is one which creates fresh bohemian, fun clothes using feminine chic fabrics that make any woman feel delicate yet strong. With their collective experience in the fashion industry, Nimboo style has a single minded purpose – to show eery woman that being fashionable is as simple as stepping into the right closet.

TALISMAN:
Designer Puja Sahu based in Delhi expresses herself through her colorful label Talisman, with two retail outlets in Delhi and Chennai. The fashion conscious, new-age flower girls flocked for their fix of unique, 60's kitsch-inspired clothing with distinct Indian influences. The Talisman collections are created every season, for Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter, so the shops are stocked with fresh, re-invented designs throughout the year.
Today Talisman represents the bold, confident woman with a strong personality, while still retaining her feminine softness. The Talisman design philosophy is a modern approach to the free-spirited bohemian fashion aesthetic with organic Indian traditional themes, natural fabrics and quirky detailing. The emphasis is on crisp aspects of tailoring and impeccable finish with body flattering cuts juxtaposed against embellished textured fabrics and exuberant hues. The Talisman woman is unafraid of asserting her sensuality, while preserving her refined elegance and kitsch-like fondness of experimenting with layers, bright colour and a hint of ethnic refinery.
MANGROVE CERAMICS:
Thomas Louis is an alumni of the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad. After dabbling in mathematics and product design he finally chose to specialize in ceramic design. Today he says that the most endearing side to his profession is that he can research food and eating patterns under the pretext of making cuisine specific tableware!
Based in Bangalore Mangrove Ceramics is the organization Thomas has nurtured. The design firm consists of his experienced teacher from Ahmedabad and other skilled employees. Together they give shape to Thomas designs and produce them industrially. These pieces are geared towards the hotel and service industry, corporate gifting and interior business. They also produce handmade tiles and other bathroom accessories. Mangrove's areas of expertise are tableware, decorative ware, bathroom ware and garden accessories.
Apart from the Mangrove range is the Limited Edition Designs by Thomas. Each of these pieces are one off pieces - hand made and distinctly detailed. Techniques such as nerikomi, sprigging, raku and texturing are used to make these highly creative pieces. Thomas also makes commissioned murals for interior spaces. These are usually theme based and ambiance specific.
INDIAN AUTUMN:
The Stone Gallery metamorphosised from a tiny chrysalis to a soaring butterfly, post two decades of R&D in the art of stone and most of all fatal attraction to natural stones. From concept to installation, Indian Autumn visualizes, creates and translates dreams onto stones – Slates, Limestone, Granite and marble blended sensitively with ceramic, wood, metal and glass.
The range of their offering is as varied as Name plates, Photo engraving, Murals and wall décor, Bathroom accessories, Stone Cladding and Garden Décor.
DEZIRES:
Dezires, a boutique run by wife-husband duo, Reena & Sanjay offers you designer unstitched suits, tunics, hand embroidered materials from Karachi & much more in semi, casual & formal ranges. They also specialize in Trousseau packing.

Special Feature : An NGO counter
was established in 1987 when a small group of social workers decided to use their expertise and resources in voluntary action among the poorest of the poor women.
In Telugu, Stree Sanghshema means "Women's development together'. Our aims are therefore not to offer charity but to motivate women and their communities to organize themselves and help them help themselves. Our ultimate goal is to establish self communities in each village.
In India, especially among the lower castes, a woman is expected to be subservient, obedient, traditional and unquestioning. She should not have any ambition besides serving her family, have minimum contact with the outside world and she should be happy to be an appendage to her husband, father, brother or son.
In order to achieve our goals, SST must work against these beliefs and expectations. SST believes that rural Indian women should be educated to utilize existing resources within and outside the community. In this way they can improve the quality of education and health care they receive. They can also improve their economic situation and increase their participation in community life
Its aim is to empower the rural poor with a special emphasis on women
SST believes in democratic, free and tolerant society where no-one is discriminated or excluded by caste, religion or gender
In India, especially among the lower castes, a woman is expected to be obedient, traditional and unquestioning.
She should not have any ambition besides serving her family and have minimum contact with the outside world.
SST’s aim is to bring about a qualitative change in the lives of women so that they can not only earn a daily income, but also be able to participate in all activities of their communities.
