we're goan on a crazy carnival ride!!

Opus Carnavale
The concept of Carnival is total freedom to everybody (something alien to this part of the world) including men, women, boys and girls who could do whatever they liked and go wherever they wanted during this period without any remorse or scrutiny, cutting out the need for making enquiries or telling lies.
One of the most popular & colourful festivals of Goa, It is one of the most eagerly awaited events of the year. Though essentially a christian festival, all people of Goa, irrespective of their faith and religion take part in this festival. The word Carnival has been derived from the Latin word "Carnavale" which means to throw away meat or abstain from 'the flesh'. The main highlight of Goan carnival is to have fun by indulging in singing, dancing, feasting, etc. before the 40 day abstinence period of Lent before Easter.
In the late 19th century, the cord(literally laces or strings in Portuguese) were introduced in Rio. These were pageant groups that paraded through city avenues performing instruments and dancing. Today they are known as blocos (blocks), consisting of a group of people who dress in costumes or specials t-shirts themes and/or logos. Blocos are generally associated with particular neighborhoods and include both a percussion or music group and an entourage of revellers.

Kingfisher ABANDONFRIDAY, 26th Feb 9pm: "Golden Boy " - Tony Das, Judy Das, Chris Das & Avinash Grubb "Golden Boy" is Chris, Tony and Judy Das are performing for the first time as part of the band, Avinash Grubb.

Chris is the oldest of the 3 siblings. He used to sing with the prog-rock band Cryptic, and now works full-time at a BPO. He rarely performs live, but keeps his passion for music alive by writing and recording songs at home, and forcing Tony to play guitar on them. He has also released these songs online at www.chris-das.com
Tony is a full-time guitar player. He plays for Karma6, and Bhoomi apart from being a session player with various bands. He's ready to play guitar at any time of the day, and if you get him drunk enough, you may also get him to sing...and apparently dance.
Judy is currently freelancing as a writer. She sings in the city on a regular basis at corporate events, and was a finalist in last year's Kroaking competition. She also trains choirs, and sings in the bathroom.
Avinash is one of the city's most well-known and accomplished pianists. He is currently working as an audio-specialist. He has performed at numerous concerts in the city and the country, and as a faculty member at BSM, has accompanied many visiting classical musicians. This is the first time Avinash will be performing as a part of 'Golden Boy' and his musical contribution is sure to make a huge difference. He is very tall.
They're usually a noisy bunch, but whe they get together, they play unusally mellow
