Explocity and Opus present RAJIV SATYAL live at Opus (Palace Cross Road), Sept 11th, 9 pm onwards:
Rajiv Satyal is the small, bespectacled Indian guy from Ohio whose witty, universal, and TV-clean act resonates with Middle America by covering everything from racial issues to soap bottles to his favourite topic – himself. This former engineer and P&G marketer has repeatedly opened for Dave Chappelle, Kevin Nealon, and also for Russell Peters in sold-out auditoriums across the U.S.A. Peters recently named Rajiv as 1 of only 2 Indian American “comics to watch.” This LA-based pocket pundit challenges people to see a new point-of-view. And to explain that Indians were not involved in 9-11 – just 7-11. Finally, he talks about what it’s like to be Rajiv. And we all have some Rajiv in us, even if we don’t want to admit it. Click here to check out his website.

Bengaluru International Arts Festival
presents 'SWARATHMA' (11th Sept, Fri) and 'MOTHERJANE' (12th Sept, Sat) live in concert at Opus in the Creek (Brookefields), 9 pm:
SWARATHMA - The Bangalore based contemporary Indian folk-fusion band that released its debut album with EMI-Virgin in December 2008, with the backing of Radio City. Swarathma is the sound of today's India - rooted in India and its values and traditions yet not afraid to look beyond the 21st Century to adopt the best of the West. The sound is contemporary Indian folk, with a fusion of rock, Carnatic and jazz. Most of all, the stage act is unforgettable! Swarathma's songs talk of joys and sorrows, of hope, pain and loss, optimism and despair of life. Click here to check out their website.
MOTHERJANE - They are Asia's No.1 Rock Act in 2009 at the AVIMA Awards is a five piece progressive rock band from Cochin, India formed in 1996. The band consists of Suraj Mani(Vocalist), Baiju Dharmajan(Lead Guitar), John Thomas (Drums), Clyde Rozario(Bass) and Deepu Sasidharan (Rhythm Guitar). Motherjane is one of the only Indian rock bands to have their music played in American, Japanese and Mexican radio stations and has a cult following all around India.
